A much loved Alpine destination for over 150 years, nestled in spectacular scenery, Sixt Fer à Cheval is rated one of the ‘Most Beautiful Villages of France’. It is surrounded by the largest nature reserve in Haute-Savoie and is a centre for every kind of mountain activity. The ‘Cirque du Fer à Cheval’, a huge limestone horseshoe of cliffs and waterfalls 500-700m high, lies just beyond the village. Another top sight within easy walking distance of the chalet is the Cascade du Rouget, known locally as ‘Queen of the Waterfalls’.
In winter, Sixt is one of the five resorts of the Grand Massif, France’s 4th largest linked ski area. This offers outstanding skiing and panoramic views of Mont Blanc. Beautiful in every season, the area is popular as a holiday destination in summer too, when the days are warm and long and the possibilities infinite.
An authentic Alpine farmhouse, Maison la Cerisaie is in a magnificent setting surrounded by mountains and waterfalls. There are ski pistes and a huge range of hiking and mountain-biking trails on its doorstep. Built in 1830 and recently renovated to the highest standards, the chalet combines traditional Alpine character with contemporary design and original art throughout.
The comfortable bedrooms all have private bathrooms with large, overhead rain-effect showers and hand showers, and underfloor heating. The living areas are spacious, with plenty of sofas and armchairs, and a superb contemporary woodburner. On the garden terrace the large hot tub has fabulous views of the surrounding mountains.
