Privacy Policy

At Alps Retreats we’re committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of our clients and of all who contact us, view our website or ask to stay in touch with us. We attach great importance to complying in all respects with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Here’s our privacy commitment:

…and here’s how we follow through on that commitment:

What information we collect

Contact details. We collect your contact details when you get in touch with us by e-mail, telephone, post or the booking and contact forms on our website. Normally this is limited to your name, e-mail and/or postal address and telephone number.

Booking information. We may collect additional information about you if you book a place on one of our retreats. This may include personal information such as your age, fitness, food preferences and similar.

Website analytics. When someone visits we may use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to tell you about the services we offer and to book the retreats you wish to attend. The legal bases for these are your express consent or the contract we establish between us when you make a booking.

How we store, share and transfer your information

We store your information on our computers in France, where they are protected by rigorous physical and password security measures. Only the two owners of Alps Retreats, Simon and Sally-Anne Airey, have access to the data.

We don’t rent, trade or share e-mail lists or any other information with other organisations and businesses. We review data annually to ensure that it’s still relevant and necessary for the purposes we describe above and we keep it for no longer than we need for those purposes.

We use a third-party provider in the USA, MailChimp, to deliver our e-newsletter and store its distribution list.  Mailchimp also gathers statistics around email opening and clicks, using industry standard technologies, to help us monitor and improve our newsletter. MailChimp is certified to the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework and its systems are fully compliant with the GDPR. Alps Retreats and MailChimp have signed a formal data processing agreement. For more information, please see MailChimp’s privacy notice.
