Experience the Joy of Winter

Skiing - or snowboarding - is a natural mindful awareness practice. Skiing down a mountain safely invites you to be in your senses and in the present moment. We show you how to leave interfering thoughts behind, to feel both energised and relaxed.

Our focus is on attention, awareness and quality of sensation, rather than on speed or adrenaline rush.

The Activities
(and teaching)

We teach you proven techniques for developing mental calm, physical relaxation and awareness whilst in motion. These can be applied both on the ski slopes and anywhere else, any time. Most of the day is spent on the mountain, practising what you’ve learned, including one whole day with a high mountain guide (you should be a competent skier or snowboarder, comfortable on red pistes).

You leave feeling more present, joyful and energised, with tools you can use for life.

The Retreat Centre

The Alps Retreats Centre is an authentic 1830s Alpine farmhouse in a magnificent setting. Beautifully renovated, it combines traditional Alpine character with contemporary design and comfort.

It nestles peacefully among stunning mountains and waterfalls, and at the foot of a 14-kilometre ski run.

The Rooms

With ample space for up to 11 adults, the four bedrooms all have super-comfortable beds and private bathrooms with calming rain-effect showers and underfloor heating. In the open living areas there are plenty of sofas and armchairs and a superb woodburner.

And you can soak up the fabulous mountain views from the large outdoor hot tub.

The Location

Sixt Fer à Cheval is a beautiful French Alpine village 75 minutes from Geneva airport and train station. Surrounded by the largest nature reserve in Haute-Savoie, it is a place of inspiring beauty, peace and calm.

Sixt is part of Le Grand Massif, France’s fourth-largest linked ski area. The village encompasses the majestic mountain valley of the Cirque du Fer à Cheval and the Cascade du Rouget, known as the ‘Queen of the Waterfalls’.

The Food

During your retreat you can expect delicious, creative, vegetarian meals, plus afternoon tea and cake, all lovingly prepared by our in-house chef.

Ingredients are organic and locally sourced where possible.

You can help yourself to hot and cold drinks at any time.

VIEW ALL

"This was a wonderful and unique opportunity to unravel the noise and chaos of everyday life. After a couple of days of peace and tranquility, with Sally-Anne's gentle guidance and encouragement, I started to reconnect with my inner being. I was able to focus on who I wanted to 'be' rather than what I needed to 'do'. I left with the strength and resolve to move forward and embrace all that life has to offer."

Larissa H. - HR Director

"I sought out Sally-Anne with a burning desire to self-discover. After my time with her in awe-inspiring Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval, I felt calmer, sharper and far more grounded than I'd ever felt before. The experience helped me rejuvenate, adjust course and plan the rest of my career/life. This wasn't just a journey of self-discovery, it was what my mind and body needed to find my purpose."

Alexander F. - Director of Alliances,

global cybersecurity firm

"Being on retreat gave me the comfortable space I needed to step back, relax and reflect on what's important. What better way to do that than in this wonderful environment in the French Alps. I don't stop very often and it's been a real joy to take time for myself. I urge everyone to do the same."

Vicki Evans, Founder,

Walk Mill Botanics

"Maison La Cerisaie is a beautiful, comfortable chalet and the food was creative, varied and delicious. Under Sally-Anne's gentle guidance, the retreat fed my spirit, mind and body, enabling me to re-charge and re-focus in a stunning corner of France."
